Egg Ladies

When we are not on a "stay at home" order, two Egg Lady teams meet to box  and pay for the eggs. Egg prices are ones that really fluctuate and cause  us to watch our budget carefully.  Usually we are able to provide a dozen eggs a week to  most families and half-dozen to families of 2 or fewer people.  Right now the cost of eggs is so high that we have chosen to add a second can of tuna and the coupon for fruits/vegetables and tortillas instead.  When normalcy returns, we will go back to our schedule of boxing at Viva Mexico and then staying to have lunch.  This supports Agustin and gives us a chance to share what is happening Lakeside.

The Egg Ladies were started by Rachel and Mickey.  It grew from just these two amazing sisters to the two teams of today.  Rachel is still heading up Team 1.  Lisa and Pat are  the "commanders" of team 2.

Team 1 comes on the first Tuesday of each month at 12:30.
Team 2 comes on the third Tuesday of each month at 11:30

Egg Ladies are a dedicated group of women who not only fund the  purchase of the eggs (with a minimum donation of 200 pesos a month), but also package them for distribution. This provides one dozen eggs for most families and  1/2 dozen for families with 2 or less members. Some of these families have as many as 14 in the household and the ladies wanted to add more protein to the despensa package. Click here for interesting egg nutrition info.

For the Egg Ladies to be able to reach their goal of one dozen a week, they needed to increase donations by 100%.  Please think about contributing to the Egg Lady fund and know that your donation of egg cartons and $10 a month will provide needed eggs to a hungry family.   Please remember to indicate eggs in the notes section on PayPal or on the envelope if giving money while dining at Viva Mexico.
